This 2016 shows an Eurasian pigmy owl (Glaucidium passerinum). The species was presented on a cover from Bulgaria.

The Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus), featured here in a 2024 Latvian stamp, is partly migratory and it preys on other bird species. It is widespread in Europe and also much of Asia and areas of Africa. The female is up to 25% larger than the male. It has 6 subspecies. Finally, it is used in falconry.

I have shown Eagle Owl before but I wanted to present this beautiful FDC from Latvia. I was issued in 2010 as a part of a set of two. The other stamp shows Common Roller.
