The Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus), featured here in a 2024 Latvian stamp, is partly migratory and it preys on other bird species. It is widespread in Europe and also much of Asia and areas of Africa. The female is up to 25% larger than the male. It has 6 subspecies. Finally, it is used in falconry.
