Issued in 2008, the bird on the stamps is a razorbill (Alca torda), a north Atlantic seabird. It is monogamous with males generally larger than females. It has two subspecies. The North American populations are migratory. It feeds on fish, crustaceans and polychaetes. In North America, the species is protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. 
 

 In 2013, Portugal issued a set of four stamps about falconry and here are two of them. The top one depicts the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) while the bottom one the Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus). Both species have been presented before.

This 2008 stamp from Portugal depicts an arctic tern (Sterna paradisaea). It can be found in the southern ranges of Europe, Asia and North America. It migrates to Antarctica for the winter. It feeds on small fish, small invertebrates and insects. It has no subspecies.

White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla): It is also known as Sea Eagle. This bird of prey can be found in northern Asia and northern Europe. Apart from other birds and small mammals it can also eat fish. With the reduce of food sources and the poisoning by farmers, the Sea Eagle has become an endangered species.

Osprey (Pandion haliaetus): It is a fish-eating bird of prey and it has four subspecies. It has a worldwide distribution and it is a migratory bird.
