Issued in 2014, the stamp depicts a spotted or Eurasian nutcracker (Nucifraga caryocatactes). The species has been discussed in the past.

The near threatened bearded vulture (Gypaetus barbatus) can be found in areas of southern Europe, Asia and Africa. It has two subspecies. It is a scavenger that feeds predominantly on bones and to a lesser extend on the flesh of carcasses.

The stamp was issued in 2025 in celebration of the 100 years of the Goldau Nature Reserve and Wildlife Park.

The long-eared owl (Asio otus) is a quite widespread nocturnal species. It can be spotted in Europe, Asia, North America and northern Africa. It has four sub-species. It preys on small rodents, birds and even insects. It is a partially migratory species.

The stamp was issued in 2024.

As my previous post was so short I am posting another cover sent from Switzerland. Thank you Vural for it.  The stamps are cancelled with Geuensee's pictorial postmark. The bird stamp was issued in 1970.
Great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) can be found in northern Asia and in Europe.  It has many subspecies.  It feeds mostly on insects and grubs but when these can't be found, it can also eat fruit, seeds, small rodents, eggs etc.

To finish with the covers I have from this set, here is a simple but yet beautiful cover showing Rock Thrush (Monticola saxatilis). The same stamp was shown before.

This bird stamp comes from the same 2007 set of Switzerland and it shows Great Tit (Parus major). Thank you Vural from ICCC.

Here are two covers from Switzerland with the 2007 Eurasian Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) stamp. Take notice at the nice machine cancelations. This finch can be found in Europe, northwestern Africa and western Asia. There are 18 subspecies. It feeds on seeds and insects. It can be kept as a pet.

Rufous-tailed Rock-thrush (Monticola saxatilis) is the second member of the Thrush family that I am presenting. It lives in southern Europe and from central Asia to northern China. In the winter it migrates to Africa. It feeds on insects, small reptiles and berries.
