Welcome to my collection. My topic is birds and I collect mostly covers but I will show you a variety of philatelic material that is part my collection.

Thank you Marthe for this great card from Sweden! Both stamps were issued in 2024 and they belong to a set of ten stamps on Springtime birds.

The northern lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) - left stamp - is common in areas of Europe and Asia as well as northern Africa. It is a migratory species. It eats insects, worms, spiders and snails. It is near threatened.

The lesser whitethroat (Curruca curruca) - right stamp - resides in Europe and Asia and migrates to Africa, Arabia and India for the winter. It has six subspecies. It feeds on insects and fruit.

  1. This time of the year we will start to see (sometimes quite numbrous) flocks of what we call Abibes (Vanellus vanelus) in the plains in the southern half of the country. It is indeed a beautiful bird, with those cocky plumes and the iridiscent body plumage....
