The southern brown kiwi (Apteryx australis) is presented on two stamps from New Zealand dated to 2005 (left) and 2002 (right). It is endemic to New Zealand and its status is vulnerable. It has two subspecies. It feeds on various invertebrates which it detects primarily by smell. It cannot fly.
